Basic Radiation Biology

Radiation biology textbook authors are Dr. Donald Pizzarello (left), associate professor of radiation biology and Dr. Richard L. Witcofski, assistant professor of radiological physics. Dr. Isadore Meschan (far right), director of the Department of Radiology looks at the book too. Because of a lack of teaching materials available at an introductory level on radiation biology, Bowman Gray School of Medicine doctors began writing a book in 1965. The book was designed for radiation biology students who have a limited background in radiation physics and modern biology. The textbook was written in narrative style, containing simple illustrations and was released in 1967.
